Garlic
Garlic is a well known anti-microbial and is probably the most famous of the ear infection remedies. Try and eat at least a clove of garlic a day. This can be raw or added to soups, teas or dressings.
Ginger
Ginger is a powerful anti-inflammatory that can soothe inflamed tissues like painful ears and swollen Eustachian tubes. Ginger is best used raw. I love adding raw ginger to my vegetable juices - it gives them a nice tang. Added to soups, teas and stir frys,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it has a warming effect on the body. If you have not got raw ginger then use it a powder,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], capsule or preserved form.
Turmeric
Turmeric is a yellow spice with potent anti-inflammatory activity. It is normally used in curries and stir frys but can be added to teas, soups and casseroles as well.
Chicken soup
Chicken soup can bring relief from ear congestion and discomfort. Chicken soup is high in a natural amino acid called cysteine which helps thin mucous and expel it from the body. So dig up grandmother's old recipe, cook it up and enjoy,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]! The canned or tinned varieties of chicken soup are not as beneficial as the home made version.

I am living in the ilusilon of having a sleepful night, without a little pointy foot perforating my intestines, once she is out. Funny that everybody keeps on telling me sleep is off the list completely once you crossed the bridge 13 MARCH 2009 18:01 said I drank a litre of pineapple juice the day before the 4 year old arrived. I also uppoed my intake of raspberry leaf tea.I have no idea if these things actually brought it on or not though! She arrived bang on her due date.13 MARCH 2009 18:08 said My first two were induced and I didn't want that with the third, so the day before he was due I went on a long uphill walk, came home, had a curry and then went to bed and ahem .and the following day, bingo a baby boy!15 MARCH 2009 20:58 said Thanks, ladies! I guess I will try a bit of all of it although not at the same time. And do some more yoga on Thursday. If I was my unborn child, I would definitely consider coming out at the prospect of another 90 minutes of chanting, hip swinging and belly rubbing.16 MARCH 2009 18:42 said I never got the chance to wait. The first was 5 weeks early and the second was bang on time. But with the shape of my post baby figure, I look as though I've been expecting anther baby for years. Good luck with everything you try and I hope it all goes well 17 MARCH 2009 09:22 said Great post! My baby isn't due for another 6 weeks and I'm already planning how to get her to come out early(!) Last time, I went for a vigorous walk up a steep hill and went into labour soon after that, a week early Good luck MM!17 MARCH 2009 13:33 said Acupuncture and that vile raspberry leaf tea. I can still taste it and youngest is 5. Didn't work, both 10 days overdue. BTW I had both mine at UCH/Bloomsbury and the midwives were totally awesome both time. Second time midwife corrected a shoulder dystocia entirely manually, sparing me forceps birth and youngest broken bones. No pain relief either time because of the fantastic support they gave me. (Post natal ward though bleurgh)22 MARCH 2009 14:25 said 41 weeks tomorrow. I take it as a compliment she just likes being VERY close to me. I will try acupuncture tomorrow and booked a course of four sessions. I had so much acupunture during this pregnancy, I feel like a cactus.Good to hear great things about the UCH/Bloomsbury as this is where I'll be having her.23 MARCH 2009 18:40
