A warm, autumn night in San Diego, along University Avenue, is alive with foot traffic which, in southern California, is the only tolerable type of traffic. As Mama Red told Suite 101, Ą°Singing lets me be the woman I have always wanted to be... When I'm on that stage, I am beautiful and desirable... I am lost and in pain but my audience is there with me. They understand because they are human, too. They understand and we share some REALLY great and when anyone takes a vacation in or near San Diego, a truly wonderful experience awaits. It is more than worth the cover charge to be in the same room as a woman with a four octave range and wonderful stage presence. It is an amazing and beautiful experience .Missing the opportunity to see and hear Mama Red and The North Park Band would be very truly unfortunate.
Who Is Ą°Mama RedĄą?
Her Ą°realĄą name is Erin Oleno. Yet theĄąbluesĄą are the rich colors with which she chooses to create her art. Erin is both smart and truly engaging. She's quite aware that a very white girl from suburban San Diego County may be the last place anyone in the know would expect to find the next great voice in the genre of the blues.
