Mad Men's Advertising People
At the Clios awards, a drunk-again Duck Phillips haunts the Mad Men audience as a cautionary tale of how low someone can fall.
The aftermath of a drunken binge.
Don is nominated for an award for one of this TV ads. Could Don's nomination at the Clios Awards a metaphor for Matthew Weiner's nomination at the Emmy Awards? Don is nervous, even though he doesn't want to show it. During the ceremony. Joan (Christina Hendricks) is holding hands with Roger and Don. Followers already know Joan had an affair with Roger,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but did she have one with Don?
Don has been drunk from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning. During that time, he has had two sexual flings; one of which he doesn't remember her name. He also told this waitress his real name is Dick. Betty (January Jones) is furious with him for not picking up their children, like he was supposed to.
At the ceremony,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Don unexpectedly wins his award, but unexpectedly, has to go to work. Unfortunately,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Don and Roger have had too much to drink. In a drunken ramble, Don constantly pitches ideas to his client, unaware he has uttered the words, "the cure of." With the clients happy with their slogan, Don and Roger can go back to drinking.
Written by Mathew Weiner, the episode, Waldorf Stories, focuses on Don Draper's (Jon Hamm) reckless alcoholism as he struggles to push for new ideas to a client.
Peter is just furious with Lane Pryce (Jared Harris) after he finds out Ken Cosgrove is joining their business. Peter thinks the company is all about him but the truth is, he can't handle all the work himself. Ken and Peter have always been competitors, but the relationship has changed since then. In this situation,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Peter is now Ken's boss, which may not be suitable for both parties.
During an interview, Don and Peggy (Elizabeth Moss) meet with a young but untalented go-getter. Yes, he keenly does want to work with them. His first problem is that his portfolio is not very good, too many slogans start with "the cure of." The other problem is that he is related to Roger Sterling's (John Slattery) side of the family. The company though has to hire them only because they are relatives.
Roger remembers when he first met Don, who used to work as a fur-trader. In the flashback, Don helped pick out the mink coat for Joan. Don, like the young go-getter in his interview, spoke eagerly about working with Roger. Though his portfolio was cartoonish, Roger did see some promise. Now Roger just wants acknowledgment from Don, that he couldn't do it all these years without him.
