us has taken the world by storm and become the most popular hybrid car on the planet. And yet, Toyota thinks there is room for another hybrid that will be even more economical and more affordable.
Behold the FT-CH! Premiered at the North America International Auto Show in Detroit, this new concept car may be the ticket to getting even more people into a hybrid. Salt Lake City Toyota Prius dealers are thrilled with the new concept, which will be aimed at a younger crowd.
Toyota Motors committed to design and launch eight new hybrid vehicles by 2015, including those running on hydrogen fuel cells, battery and electricity [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and plug-in (electric). The FT-CH, with CH standing for compact hybrid, is one of the first in this line, which some are calling the Prius family.
Hybrid vehicles are becoming more and more important as oil costs rise and political tensions make acquisition more difficult. Toyota Motors President Jim Lentz, speaking about the hybrid line [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], suggests that within the next couple of decades the demand for liquid fuels will exceed our supply. Toyota plans to be ready for that before it happens.
Since the FT-CH will have a lower price than the Prius as well as get more miles to the gallon and be on the lighter side, Toyota hopes it will be attractive to younger buyers and, more importantly, within their budgets.
Buyers of Salt Lake City new cars will be looking for a great value in this economy and the FT-CH will fit the bill for value, eco-friendliness and so much more. Lentz addressed this, saying, A century after the invention of the automobile we must re-invent it . . . by reducing or eliminating non-renewable fuel sources.
This smaller car still claims interior room, and was specifically designed for passenger comfort by Toyotas design team in Nice, France. Even though we dont have details on the interior features, they are sure to be as plentiful as those of the Prius and may even hold a few surprises.
Salt Lake City Toyota Prius customers will feel a kinship with this new concept car and will want to check it out when it becomes available next spring. After all, Prius is the most popular hybrid around and this new concept hybrid promises to be at least as impressive with a lower sticker price and better gas mileage to boot.
It would be nice if the FT-CH were given a name that could be pronounced, but well take it regardless. Dealers of Salt Lake City new cars will keep their ears open for any new information coming our way on the FT-CH names, options [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], features, etc. and they will be ready to put us behind the wheel.
