She’s suddenly, and absolutely [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], everywhere. Although you may not know exactly who Florence Welch is, you’ve no doubt heard her music. Hollywood propelling her to the forefront of pop culture consciousness, Florence and the Machine is anything but “normal,” mainstream music.
The rhythmic, pounding chaos of Drumming Song is offset by the mystical Cosmic Love, with its harp chords and subtle background of strings. Likewise, the listener does not quite know what to do with tunes such as My Boy Builds Coffins, aside from knowing that the melody is virtually impossible to dislike [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], even if the subject matter makes one second guess his or her tastes.
Florence and the Machine, Twilight, and the Movies

Yet, despite her off-kilter musicality, Florence and the Machine seems to be popping up everywhere. Her Heavy in Your Arms was featured on the Twilight: Eclipse soundtrack, written especially for the movie. The Unique Sound of Florence and the Machine
But besides a couple of commercially-loved tunes, Florence and the Machine’s Lungs is haunting and undeniably diverse. References to mythology abound throughout the album and the images she conjures in her otherworldly voice remain with the listener for hours after listening to the preternatural psalms.
Then, mere weeks later, Florence performed at the MTV Video Music Awards, by get this—laying on a revolving mattress on stage and crooning her haunting tune to a live audience and across the nation in a decidedly non-Indie mode of music-making. Her video for Dog Days are Over also won a VMA for Best Art Direction that night as the British free spirit continues to make waves in the music and entertainment world.
From the perpetual push of Rabbit Heart, which propels the ear to the song’s end, to the disturbingly ironic and satiric Kiss with a Fist, Florence and the Machine challenges the lollypop [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], mainstream numbers and summer anthems that abound in current culture, to imbue the ears of the listening public with something completely different.
