Stratford and Stratford (1992pp. 36–3 have put together a table listing 103 eco-
nomic indicators accepted by the BEA as of February 1989.
Most economic indicators are series of data collected across timelike the CPI.
Some of them measure ?nancial dataothers measure productionand yet others
measure consumer behavior. Here is a list of ten seriesrandomly selected by the
author from the previously mentioned table provided by Stratford and Stratfordto
give you an idea of the variety. The letters in parentheses will be explained in the fol-
lowing section.
