An Argyle Street home bordering the DCE was demolished Jan. 15, 2010 by the government after a $7-million suit against the OPP and the federal and provincial governments was settled. Home of the Iroquois nation, Six Nations has been dealing with land claim issues for significantly longer than Caledonia residents, however, a confrontation at the Douglas Creek Estates (DCE) in 2006 brought the issues forefront for Caledonians.
The former Brown/Chatwell home that sat on Argyle Street, just on the outskirts of DCE, is no more. It had been there for many years prior to the development of DCE. Life was peaceful between the two communities until the DCE development began

Since 2006, job losses, closures of businesses and increased security measures at area schools have been documented as the communities struggle to maintain a sense of equilibrium.
“It’s sad but I am also happy.”
“Susan”, claiming authorship of the pen pal program between the children of Six Nations and Caledonia grade schools, said the focus should remain on solutions between the communities to promote healing.
“The OPP don’t care about us, we have no influence with them,” said Taylor.
“I am having mixed emotions,” said Chatwell, while watching her childhood home being demolished.
A March 28, 2010 rally to protest two-tier policing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], organized by Gary McHale and members of Canadian Advocates for Charter Equality (CANACE), was poorly attended by Caledonians. CANACE was formed to “spread the message about how institutionalized two-tier justice has become institutionalized in the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Ontario government,” according to website: the rally in larger numbers were members of the First Nations Solidarity Working Group CUPE 3903 and native supporters.
“These events just stir up trouble and the media shouldn’t focus on the sensationalism of that,” she said.
