Skins big hitter
Other teams already know that Washington Redskins safety LaRon Landry is one of the hardest hitters in the NFL. Now one of his teammates knows it, too.
Landry levelled fellow safety Reed Doughty in the Redskins' loss to the Houston Texans last weekend. Landry was aiming for Andre Johnson, but Doughty hit Johnson first and moved the receiver enough to cause an accidental collision between the teammates.
So how did it feel?
“Just like it feels anytime you get hit by a semi running through your stomach,” Doughty said. “I've never been hit like that before, so I can't tell you. I've had the wind knocked out of me,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that was an entirely different experience. I'm actually glad he hit me where he did and not in the spleen or kidney because that might've ended my career.”
INTERCONFERENCE STREAKING: The Tennessee Titans take a nine-game winning streak against the NFC into Sunday's game with the New York Giants, and another victory would be the franchise's best string against the other conference. Since realignment in 2002, only New England (28-4, .875 winning percentage) and Indianapolis (26-7, .789) are better than Tennessee's mark of 23-9 (.719) against the opposing conference.
IF THE SHOE FITS, KICK WITH IT: Talk about late-game pressure.
Texans equipment manager Chris Snell made a clutch run that almost no one noticed in Houston's 30-27 overtime win over Washington on Sunday.

Special teams coach Joe Marciano summoned Snell, who sprinted to the locker room to grab a spare, while referees reviewed a 28-yard catch by tight end Joel Dreessen. Snell returned just in time for [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] to lace up the new shoe and take a few warm-up kicks before taking the field for the final play.
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] was going to try to kick barefooted if Snell didn't return in time. He said the stress of waiting for his replacement shoe may have alleviated the pressure on the kick itself.
BETTS IS BACK IN ‘NAWLINS: Ladell Betts had a feeling Reggie Bush's injury might be his opportunity to return to the New Orleans Saints.
Betts, who played eight seasons for the Washington Redskins, is trying to come back from reconstructive surgery to repair torn ligaments in his left knee.
He spent a little more than two weeks with New Orleans during the pre-season, but didn't make the final cut. This week, he was invited back for a workout along with former Saints player Aaron Stecker, and New Orleans decided to re-sign Betts.
“The biggest difference is when I showed up last time, I hadn't even been practising and I hadn't any real live football since the knee injury in the last week of November,” Betts said. “When I showed up back then I still felt a little hesitant, a little nervous. So now I'm a lot more confident, I know what I can do and what I can't do, and what I don't have to worry about. ... I know it's not going to bother me if I get tackled.”
Bush broke his right fibula while recovering his muffed punt in the fourth quarter of the Saints' 25-22 win at San Francisco on Monday night. After Bush was helped off the field, Betts said he received about a dozen text messages asking him if he saw what happened.
“Ironically, coach (Sean Payton) told me when I got released, ‘Hey, you never know? In a couple of weeks you might be back,' and here it is a couple of weeks,” Betts said. “You hate to come back under these circumstances. You don't want to see anybody get hurt. But I'm back and I'm excited about it.”
