Marcome and Twitter
Suite101: If you weren’t a singer, what would you be?
Marcomé’s fans appreciate the versatility with which the New Age singer combines New World music, Latin, African, Middle- and Far-Eastern beats, jazz, Arabic rhythms and soul music. Avid Suite101 readers will also know that the singer is active on Twitter. Now Marcomé talks about her passion, style of working and keeping up-to-date with her fans.
Marcomé: I’m becoming an Ambassador for the Humanity Healing Foundation. It’s the first cause I’m embracing. The foundation actually helps people in Uganda to build houses and get a new life of their own. With a 5$ donation, you can feed, cloth and help educate a child in the refugee camps in northern Uganda for a month. I've also recently been featured in Om Times Magazine, where I speak more about the project.
Suite101: As a French Canadian, tell us how language and being bilingual has shaped your singing and your career?
Marcomé: I started being fascinated with other languages when I discovered an ethnic music record collection from Decca. It had some Bulgarian and Gregorian chants, operatic music; all in different languages I did not understand. Still, I could feel the emotion without understanding the lyrics. I then started singing by ear, which is for me singing by sounds rather than lyrics. It gives complete freedom to the listener to imagine his or her own scenario on my music!
Suite 101: As a professional artist, interviews are part of your life but as a treat to your readers on Suite101 [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], is there anything you’d like to share with us that you haven’t previously disclosed?

Suite101: Where do you find inspiration for new songs?
Marcome's New Projects
Marcomé: I would work with people, be a social worker trying to help people create a better life and evolve in their environment. I would write books about self-growth and the importance of emotional autonomy. I would probably also spend more time on my website and blog.
Suite101: Apart from your music, one thing that people connect with Marcomé is Twitter. Tell us a bit about your experience and of course, the famous Twitter Song "Twitter Me Some Love"!
Marcomé: I started singing at a very young age along with everything that would play in the house. I developed a passion for sound and went on to study sound engineering. I then worked in theater, TV and live recording shows for some time. As I was working with amazing artists, I was also doing my music as a hobby. In 1994, I had a back operation that got me thinking about my future and I then felt compelled to act on my biggest dream [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], doing my own music. It really came from my heart.

Marcomé: I find inspiration in nature a lot – while walking, driving my bike, traveling. When I watch the horizon moving, I start getting visions [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and the voice in my head slowly hums a new tune, a soundtrack is coming to life!
Marcomé: Twitter is an amazing social media network. I found lots of kindred spirits from all over the world ready to help. It inspired the Twitter Song, which is kind of an ode and a celebration of humankind. I believe that we can create a better world by uniting and becoming more aware of an abundance of possibilities lying right at our feet.
Suite101: Though you’ve always worked in the music industry, it wasn’t always as a singer. Tell us a bit about your background and how you found your calling.
