Temat postu: puma roma The Fall of France 1940 puma running sho
In the meantime Army Group B advanced against the Belgians. The Belgians counted on the Eben Emael fort to stop, or at least significantly slow the German infantry's advance. The official wisdom in the Belgian army insisted that the fort was impregnable. The Germans did not think so. They used glider borne infantry to invest the fort. The paratroopers finished the job in a matter of hours.
At this point in the campaign the Allies made their crucial mistake. The best units of the French army and the British Expeditionary Force moved into Belgium. The Allies though that the advance through Belgium was the center of the German effort. They thought wrong.
Gamelin, the French commander in chief played straight into the Germans’ hands by relying on the Maginot line to hold his right and center. He also shifted the Seventh Army, his only viable reserve puma roma, to the far left of the Allied line to link up with the Dutch forces. With a stroke the chief French strategist removed his country's entire operational reserve from the equation. His stupidity would soon prove lethal for many of his soldiers.
class="dynamic">The German and Allied War Plans
In October 1939 Hitler ordered the army high command to come up with plans to occupy the Netherlands, Belgium Luxembourg and northern France. Army Group A's chief of Staff, Erich von Mainstein, urged Hitler to redeploy a number of panzer divisions to the Ardennes with the aim of bypassing the Maginot line and making a lighting attack against Allied defenses along the river Meuse. At first the army high command was not in favor of the idea. However puma running shoes, by May 1940 the generals had come around to von Mainstein's way of thinking.
Invasion of France and the Low Countries
The German onslaught commenced on 10 May. In the north the airborne troops captured the key bridges into the Netherlands, thus enabling the 9th Panzer Division to surge forward and break into the heart of the country. The Dutch were finished but they refused to surrender. Hitler decided to teach them a lesson. Quite unnecessarily he ordered the Luftwaffe to terror bomb Rotterdam. 3000 Dutch civilians were killed in the raid. On 14 May the Dutch army capitulated.
Nine German panzer divisions advanced through the Ardennes. They slashed through the French and Belgian defenses with ease and by 12 May they had reached the river Meuse. The next morning the Germans were over the river, albeit at heavy cost to Ervin Rommel's Seventh Panzer infantry regiment. With the Germans over the Meuse the French position collapsed.
In May 1940 the chief of the general staff, Franz Halder placed almost all the German armor in the Ardennes area. The plan called for the German armored units to drive to the channel coast and in the process trap the French, British and Belgian forces between them and the sea. At the same time airborne and ground forces would defeat the Dutch while the bulk of the German infantry divisions with some armored support would fall on Belgium. The plan was brilliant but its eventual success was in large measure facilitated by the Allied conception of the coming campaign.

Turning the Tide in World War II
At Sedan puma suede, the force commanded by Heinz Guderian also crossed the Meuse but paid just as dear price for the feat as Rommel's troops. Still, the price was well worth paying because now nothing stood between the Germans and the sea. The panzers rushed deep into French territory. The scope of the success surprised, and ironically alarmed the German high command. The German high command ordered Guderian to slow down his advance. His response to that was ordering a 'reconnaissance in force' and turning off his radi
