Inspired Shoes World
The statement for christian louboutin shoes is pure Louboutin, who is known for his originality and who takes inspiration from everything but fashion. “It might be the way a woman gets out of a car, a garden in Italy, an exhibition about China, a holiday in Chile,” he says. He came up with his trademark red soles while designing a pair of shoes inspired by Andy Warhol’s poppy prints. “Black soles are for widows, beige soles are for the Milanese, but red soles are for those who want to flirt and still have time to dance,” he says. His theory also explains his client list, which includes socialites (Marie-Chantal of Greece) and the likes of Cameron Diaz, Madonna, Sarah Jessica Parker,Knightsbridge ugg boots sale, Elizabeth Taylor, and Imelda Marcos. Louboutin thinks of his shoes as personalities. “Every pair has a name because they resemble birds of paradise,” he says. The theme is omnipresent in all of his boudoir-like boutiques, where each creation has its own alcove or perch.
Just as Louboutin plays with color, he experiments with unconventional design elements, such as silk ties from Charvet, cheap uggs bailey button, Guinness beer cans, and rose petals. Of course, not all his ideas work. “One season, I made shoes out of untreated pigskin for jean Paul Gaultier,” he remembers. “Oh my God, they smelled so bad that the entire fashion house had to evacuate.” Gaultier forgave him, which is not hard to do. Bret Easton Ellis thinks it’s because of Louboutin’s “uncompromising honesty and the humor that goes with that. He loves what he does.” “But,” the novelist says, “he understands the silliness and frivolity of his world. He’s never lost.”
The designer is also tenacious when his mind is fixed on something. Case in point: the house in Luxor he shares with friends. Louboutin saw the work of the French-Egyptian architect Olivier Sednaoui, who built his own house in Luxor, and became determined to have him design his home. The project started out as a wild-goose chase when Sednaoui disappeared for a while. He was sighted in Switzerland, then Amman, and finally, after a lot of detective work, Louboutin caught up with him. “And then I had to persuade him to work with us,” he recalls.
Louboutin’s legendary charm worked, and the result is the house on Luxor’s west bank, with a surrounding landscape that he describes as “jumping right out of the Bible.” Indeed, this earth-brick fortress and the modern city of Luxor are situated on what was once part of the ancient capital of Thebes, and nearby are the river Nile and the ruins of an ancient village and Coptic monastery. There’s also the address of the desert hideaway (“Super 69,” he can’t resist adding), right near the Valley of the Queens. “Since the area is a historical monument-Nefertari’s tomb lies there, and Medinet Hahn, one of Egypt’s largest temples, is 10 minutes away-we can’t legally live in the valley,” he says. “Otherwise, the house will be burned to the ground.” This, too, is quintessential Louboutin– delivering terrifying information with throwaway calm. But, as usual, his general exuberance helps him navigate any situation. Diane Von Furstenberg calls him a lucky charm “to everyone who wears his shoes and-most of all, to himself.”
