Like attracts like, so the bottom line is that negative thinking patterns attract people, situations and circumstances that fit with that mind set. Positive thinking on the other hand, leads to feelings of hope, joy, enthusiasm, and to attracting similar uplifting people, situations and circumstances. It's that simple, but it's not easy to attain. In order to begin changing negative thinking and benefit from the power of positive thinking, a person must be aware, accepting, amused, and take new action.
Thoughts are where people begin to create in their life. As Louise L. Hay, wrote in her book,

, The Power is Within You, "The thoughts we choose to think are the tools we use to paint the canvas of our lives." A mere negative thought can trigger a memory, light up an old wound, and send a person down a negative spiral of low self-esteem.
The power of positive thinking is evident in everyone's lives when people look more closely. What people create in their life is often a result of what they think and believe. It can be seen by simply watching and interacting with others that people with a positive attitude, who think happy thoughts, enjoy a pretty good life.
