MMORPG.com contributor Eric Barnett writes this look at what will happen to Final Fantasy XI when Final Fantasy XIV launches. Love it or hate it, Final Fantasy Eleven has been out and going strong for eight years (six years for US players). The first MMO incarnation of the Final Fantasy series, Eleven had some major expectations to live up to amongst its legions of followers. Originally launching with only a limited number of classes, it has now expanded to a whopping twenty class system. The game has had its ups and downs like all MMOs of its time,Buy FFXIV Gil, however FFXI has always remained steadfast in its niche. With Square Enix now on the cusp of their beta stages we must ask ourselves, why a part two? People have always joked that the series title was a play on itself, "How can they say it''s a FINAL fantasy if there are so many of them?" Fans of the series will always argue, "Because each game is its own story!" This however, is becoming more of a convoluted statement with each game released lately. With endless spinoffs to popular games in the series now sprouting out of every direction, fans are hard-pressed to stick to their guns. The question now resounds, "Why not just make this an expansion to FFXI instead of calling it FFXIV if you are already using the same world?" Players have been debating this endlessly since fourteen was announced, but should we see this as a big deal? If we already saw games like FFX-2 become popular as spin-off, stand alone titles, then why should giving this game a new number be any different? It''s all in the lore and game-play for me; if Square Enix can convince me that this is indeed a new world to explore,FFXIV Gil, then I''m sold. Square Enix has updated the official Final Fantasy XIV website with new clan details and art for the five previously revealed races: the Elezen, Lalafell, Hyur, Roegadyn, and Miqo''te. The Elezen clans include the Wildwood Elezen clan,Cheap FFXIV Gil, who are the more foresty archer types (read: your typical breed of elf), and the Duskwight Elezen, who are are a cave-dwelling clan of Elezen possessing acute senses of sound and smell and excel at hand-to-hand combat. They are more apt at thievery. The Lalafell clans include the Plainsfolk, who have established an underground network beneath their thatched huts and have a great sense of hearing, able to pick up the faintest sounds from the plains'' various fauna, and the Dunesfolk, who are a desert-dwelling clan of Lalafell. The Hyur (humans) have the Midland clan, which are your basic garden variety human and the most common appearance of the race, but they also have the Highlander clan, which, naturally, live in the mountains and are generally of a larger build than the Midlanders, and often serve as mercenaries. The Miqo''te, which are a catlike people, come in either the Seekers of the Sun or the Keepers of the Moon varieties. The former have a preference for the warm light of day and this is pervasive throughout their entire culture, as they worship the sun goddess Azeyma. The latter, the Keepers of the Moon, are a nocturnal clan of Miqo''te who paint their faces with war paint and worship the moon goddess Menphina the Lover. And finally, we have the Roegadyn, which are basically the Galka from FFXI. They come in two clans as well, the Sea Wolves, which originally came from the islands in the north seas, and often serve as sailors. The second clan, the Hellsguard, lives in the volcanic regions, fearing that these "mountains of flame" lead to the underworld and have made it their cause to prevent the souls of the dead from returning to the land of the living. Check out the official Final Fantasy XIV website for more information. New assets featuring the revealed clans can be found in our Final Fantasy XIV gallery.
