Repo Men tries desperately to be an action movie. However, one of the minimal requirements for a film to be inducted into this category (along with dippy one-liners and escaping impossible traps) is to have good action/combat. And Repo Men doesn't have any of these things. Granted, there is one nice skirmish when Remy and Jake happen across a ship housing dozens of people skipping on their organ payments. They become a two-man army, and this scene showcases one of the few things Repo Men really has going for it: Good honest chemistry. Anyone could tell you that Law and Whitaker became good friends during this movie, and you would believe it. They have a playful (albeit morbid) friendship when they're at work, which many people can relate to in their own respective workplaces. There's also a nice hallway fight near the end, but it's harder to care at that point.
Repo Men is based off the the book The Repossession Mambo Air Force 1 High 07, released in 2009, and while little is known of the book at this time, Repo Men bears a striking resemblance to Repo! The Genetic Opera, a rock opera released in 2008. Obviously one being an action movie and its predecessor being an opera, that's quite a difference. The story from The Genetic Opera is completely lost on Repo Men, instead trading up for a predator-becomes-prey ploy, one that's been used time and time again. Why the story and/or characters from the opera were lost in translation, is a mystery. Of course Nike Air Max Lebron Viii, it can be argued that it was based off the idea, a homage. Much like how Shakespeare got his ideas from other plays, and how the Indiana Jones series is based off the adventure serials George Lucas grew up with. However, a proper rebuttal then would be: Why fix what isn't broken? The story and characters from the opera were original enough, why swap
Feel Like You've Heard This Plot Before?
Suspension of disbelief can be incredibly important to fully enjoying a movie, and sometimes, understanding the underlying message to a film. Unfortunately, not everyone has this particular skill/tool at their disposal, which only aids in dividing audiences into its two main categories: Hating a movie, or loving it. People without the ability to suspend belief aren't as likely to enjoy a comic book movie or a sci-fi film as others will, while people who are more than happy to escape reality will be bored to death with a realistic love or drama story. Repo Men requires this tool like a baby requires food, and appropriately, sometimes will thank its audience with something vile and gross and frankly Shox Turbo mens, could do without altogether.
Where Repo Men lacks in action, it surprisingly makes up for in humor. Despite the seriousness and dark tone of the plot, the movie occasionally has moments of light-hearted fun in the matter. It can come across as a bit morbid, but that's what makes the humor works so well. They're opposites working together for a common good. Most action-type films wouldn't even think to attempt such a concept, which makes you appreciate it in Repo Men all the more. If nothing else, it's one of the few places where you'll see a child performing knee surgery with glee like it's a game of Operation.
Review of Repo Men
A company called The Union offer highly sophisticated mechanical organs and body parts, advancing and improving human life. Unfortunately, if an owner of these expensive transplants falls back on payments, the fine print in the contract says The Union will send a highly skilled repo man to take back its property on the spot... with no concern for your comfort or survival. Remy (Law) is the best of the best. Until he himself wakes up from an accident and finds one of The Union's best heart replacement mechanisms in his chest, and he has trouble coming up with cash. When Remy hits the road and runs, The Union sends Remy's partner Jake (Whitaker) after him, and a game of cat-and-mouse ensues.
