Amber says she feels her own eating disorder glamorises models and puts them on a pedestal. "I look at them with envy and look at myself in disgust. I can see their fatless bodies. I then look at myself in the mirror and can point out hundreds of flaws," Amber remarks. Amber also feels angry that society allows for unattainable images to be out there as it makes it harder for sufferers. "It is sad to think that little girls look up to these waifish models thinking that they are so pretty and that they want to be like them," she comments. Amber says that she believes this causes people to look down on their own selves whilst trying to achieve something impossible. "It's like saying being a rabbit makes everything better, when becoming a rabbit is impossible," she says.
Last year Amber was attacked again; the traumatic psychological effect was devastating. She reverted back to her eating disorder. This time she made the terrible decision to take methamphetamines to increase her weight loss. "I smoked meth all day everyday for about 3 or 4 months and I got down to 95lbs {43 Kilograms}. I literally ate nothing for months," she says. This was a horrifying downward spiral. "I practically lived on lattés and coffee Puma Ferrari Sneakers, I even had a heart attack from an overdose, and I ended up going to jail.” Her parents who had not seen her for five months saw her at a court appearance. They took one look at how thin she was, bailed her out of jail, and put her in rehab for thirty days. Amber is still undergoing intense therapy, but she has been drug free since rehab, and is even engaged to be married.
A number of aspects of the media can play a part in projecting images of emaciated models including film, fashion, television, food, diet industry and even peers. Amber believes that her peers also have an impact on her behaviour. "I find myself triggered when I have a friend who is skinny; I always stare at their bodies wishing that I was that skinny," she says. She also believes that restrictions on the thinness of models may help to a degree. "What happened to the good ol' days when Marilyn Munroe was a Goddess and she had a 36 inch waist?" she asks.
Amber {Last name withheld} 20, has been struggling with anorexia disorder for 10 years. She says that the illness began in a way that almost seemed innocent, such as measuring and weighing everything she ate and sometimes skipping meals. Amber was diagnosed with anorexia at age 15 with her lowest weight reaching 40kg {90lbs}.
Amber believes that she developed anorexia after she became the victim of a number of sexual assaults. She believes that these traumas were the cause for her developing the disorder."The traumatic experiences had an enormous effect on my behaviours, and I became self destructive," Amber comments. Amber's disorder involved strict dieting, even eating nothing, vomiting what little she did eat and strict exercise. "I even ended up tearing my oesophagus and I threw up blood for a while Puma Ferrari," says Amber. Amber's health deteriorated and she attempted to seek help in 2006 at the Centre For Change United States.

Although Amber's illness stemmed from trauma, she still feels the media portrays unhealthy skinny people and can affect people more than they would like to admit. "With an almost impossible image of beauty, or what beauty is supposedly meant to be, seeing these models who have fame Puma Disc Blzae, money and beauty makes people want to be like them, so therefore people start dieting trying to achieve this unrealistic beauty," Amber comments.
