Love Chinese food? Visit thi recent article to learn the proper way to stir fry - from my mother jordan spizike!
Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, steering my boyfriends towards a local beer that tasted like toasty ale. I opted for a sweet white German wine. We were too full to order dessert, wishing we had the room for the ginger short cake with citrus shavings, poached tangerines and mascarpone cheese. There was also a nice selection of teas such as the exotic-sounding organic white peony tea, Oolong, green, herbaceous and Bai Mu Dan (a white tea grown in China's Fujian province).
A selection of mains, priced from $24 to $30 US, provided plenty of variety from a bouillabaisse to red snapper with Asian greens over soba noodles bathed in a ginger soy consommé and beef ribeye with short ribs accompanied by dumplings, a mushroom stirfry and mustard sauce.
Spring's kitchen is steaming with delicious food. Appetizers ($9 to $14 US) include yellow fin ahi tuna in black olive dressing, dandelion-leek miso broth with Chinese broccoli and hearts of palm and avocado tossed in cumin vinaigrette. I started with octopus stir-fried in soy sauce with baby bok choy speckled with delectable bits of burnt garlic and shallots. The octopus was just the right texture of slightly soft and slightly hard and the whole caboodle made music in my mouth. My boyfriend dug into his charred sashimi of beef with cilantro and fresh lime over rice noodles jordans 7, also a lovely medley.
I couldn't resist ordering the sea scallops braised in oxtail consommé jordan 7, sided with wild mushrooms. The luscious, salty, seared scallops married well with the earthy mushrooms. My boyfriend chose a flakey hunk of halibut perched atop a mound of gently-simmered spinach, a gathering of fava beans and bite-sized potato dumplings. Scrumptious!

Oh yes, our visit to the Colca Canyon ended with an early morning viewing of the magnificent condors, with wingspans of more than three metres. Seeing them up close is a singular experience, as they soar and swoop with abandon. That's how we felt as we left Spring, walking out into the balmy night, carefree with joy in our stomachs.
When I visited Chicago recently for a mini-break, I was delighted to be in a spring again or rather, "Spring" the Asian fusion restaurant nestled in the city's funky Wicker Park neighbourhood (Damen-Blue Line stop). What's notable about the restaurant's site is its historic setting - the Luxor Bathhouse, built in 1923. It's a classic Russian bathhouse modeled after those of ancient Rome and Constantinople.
The last time I recall being in a mineral hot spring was in Peru back in 2003. My boyfriend and I were soaking in the natural springs of the Colca Canyon region, hemmed in by rough cliff sides. It was at least minus 10 degrees Celsius but we were toasty and happy soaking in our natural hot tub.
