ing process is not an easy job. When you are mining for metals like gold and silver, the final output may seem very rewarding, but during the process of mining you have go through many obstacles, such as use of cyanide during the mining process may lead to severe health and environmental risks. Many cases of environmental disasters have been reported by community groups and NGOs in Europe and the United States, and the report said that there have been serious effects in the environment due to unregulated cyanide compound release from mining fields around the world such as Canada, Bolivia, China, Philippines, Ghana, Zimbabwe and even in the United States such disasters have seriously impacted the environment.
In the periodic table, Cyanide compound is one of the extremely toxic and very deadly compounds both for human and for the environment. During the mining process when Cyanide is used, workers always are in high risk of exposure to concentrated hydrogen cyanide gas upon accidental release which also seriously affects the surrounding community and the environment. Not only Cyanide but some toxic chemicals like arsenic [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], lead, cadmium and mercury which are released during an accident can cause permanent damage to many species of animals and plants and also human beings. Natural disasters like deforestation [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], soil erosion, landslides [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and water contamination are triggered if such deadly chemicals are out.
The Cyanide leaching process is a dangerous process because if the process is not regulated properly, the harmful chemicals like arsenic and other poisonous chemicals will reach out to the surrounding and they seriously damage everything on their way. If they reach water areas, the contamination will occur very fast and will kill many fish and other aquatic animals in a large number. Even migratory birds such as waterfowl and bats wont survive this contamination. Humans also dont have chance to stand unaffected from this environmental hazardous contamination.
At gold mining operation the workers are always in high alert of exposing to Cyanide during the heap leaching. Cyanide can cause difficulties when it is inhaled or swallowed. It actually suffocates the victim by blocking the absorption of oxygen by cells. High amount of concentrated Cyanide when exposed to humans can be very fatal and low amount of concentration may causes cancer both in human and animals.
