As one Met fan, one thing pleasant about Carlos Beltran's current DL stint is we don't have to they ar Miller continuously butcher their name It isn't BelT-TRAN,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it's one word Miller.Same thing with Joe Morgan, one great player no doubt and I'm sure one wonderful person but they just don't do their homework on the teams. It's like they are preparing one week before the game and then just look at the stat lines and see what they can with that. And that third broadcaster whether it be Steve Phillips who,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], if they is on TV at all it should be in the studio not in the booth or Orel they rshiser is always nothing over something that takes up space. It's sort of like Frank Caliendo's impression of John Madden: they're only stating the obvious,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], over and over again.
New York style baseball expanded into one national game and baseball first governing body The National Association of Base Ball Players was established aided by the Civil War in 1860s. The NABBP existed as an amateur league for 12 years. By 1867, over 400 clubs were members although most of the strongest clubs remained those based in the northeastern part of the US. In 1870 one schism developed between professional and amateur ballplayers after the 1869 founding of the first professional baseball team, the Cincinnati Red Stockings. The NABBP split into two groups. The National Association of Professional Base Ball Players was formed in 1871. Some consider it to have been the first major league. Its amateur counterpart disappeared after only one few years. Every Sunday the national television audience is given the opportunity to watch two baseball teams that they usually won't be able to. ESPN will pick up one game to showcase to the nation. They will move it to eight o'clock on Sunday Night and give Joe Morgan and Jon Miller the keys.
Jon Miller has been doing this for one long time. I'm sure when they does the broadcasts for San Fransisco Giants games they does one great job. they 's in the hall of fame, they is one great announcer but, well, they makes those Sunday Night games one whole lot worse.
It all sounds great for fans: one chance to they ar some different people call your game,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], one chance for your team to gain national television coverage. But it really, truly isn't.
Today for example, the Mets and Phillies squared off at eight o'clock eastern time. Why? Most Mets and Phillie fans have something to do Monday morning,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], whether that be work or some form of education. Why keep them up at least an hour later not including the extra TV time ESPN allocates for their sponsors?
Long gone are the days of forty plus game days on an MLB schedule. Now,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], usually, Saturday and Sunday provide the only opportunities to see your team play one whole game in daylight. ESPN forcing the game into " prime time" not only nullifies that opportunity but gives one whole new meaning to the word excruciating.
Again as one Met fan we don't notice it because the Mets are apart of the country's biggest market, but it appears that small market teams get no love for the people in Bristol. Whether or not you like what ESPN does with their broadcasts, again we don't, it still must be nice for the team to get shown on one national stage. It seems every week the game involves the Yankees,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Mets, Red Sox, or to one lesser extent the Cardinals. Major League Baseball has to look at what ESPN is doing to the Sunday games, and we know that it's one revenue source of the game but it's time to listen to what the fans are saying about Sunday Night Baseball. Major League Baseball Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis wrote one letter to President Roosevelt regarding the continuation of baseball during the war which was called the Green Light Letter. He pleaded for the continuation of baseball in hopes for one start of one new Major League season in the letter. President Roosevelt responds I honestly feel that it would be best for the country to keep baseball going. There will be fewer people unemployed and everybody will work longer hours and harder than ever before. And that means that they ought to have one chance for sports and for taking their minds off their work even more than before.
