i(BeOingUniversityofChineseMedicine,Beijing100029;121epartmentofChemistYy,PekingUniversity,BeQing100871)ABSTRACTAIM:TodeterminethecontentsofthreealkaloidsinsomeplantsofMahoniaandtoprovideaneffectivetoolforthequalityevaluationofMahoniafarnily.METHODS:Thecontentsofthreealkaloids.berberine,palmatineandjatrorrhizine,indifferentplantsweredeterminedhyusinghighperformancecapi[1aryelectrophoresis(HPCE),withbrucineasinterna1standard.Theconditionswereasfollows:diodearraydetectorsetat265nm;runtime,8,0min;appliedvoltage,30kV;temperature,20℃.Thebackgroundelectrolytesystemselectedwas0.1mol·Lph~phatewithpH7.0.methanoI(2:1).REsUL1:TheIinearrangesofberberine,pahnatine,andjatrorrhizinewere4.9-498.6·mLI1(7=0.9990),5.0-504.9g·mL(7:0.9996)and5.1~505,8vg。mL(7=0.9984),respectively.TherelativestandarddeviationsofpeakareaofthealkaIoidsrangedfrom1.03%to1.61%.TheaverslgerecoveriesofthealkaIoidswere96.00%~101.66%,100.15%~102.97%and96.68%~102.44%,respectively.QuantitativedeterminationofthealkaloidsinthedriedstemofdifferentplantsofMahoniawasperformedbythismethod.Theresultsshowedthatthecontentsofthethreealkaloidsvariedgreatlywithspecies,placeoforiginandcollectingtime.CONCLUSION:ThecontentsofthealkaloidsinalItheplantsofMahoniaanalyzedinthispaperwereveryhigh,s。theyhavethepotentialofbeingnewpharmaceuticalresources.HFCEtechniqueprovidesasimple,rapid,andeffectivetooIforthequalitycontroIofherhalmedicine.KEYWORDSMahonia;highperformancecapillaryelectrophoresis(HPCE);herherine;palmatine;jatrorrhizine
