The Houston Texans tried to make a trade Tuesday.
They didn't, and instead released offensive tackle Ephraim Salaam and outside linebacker David Nixon. These were moves that helped clear a roster spot for offensive tackle Duane Brown, [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] who is returning from an NFL-mandated four-game suspension.
The Texans were trying to trade to help a struggling defense, but John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reported that "asking prices were too high."
Middle linebacker [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] is expected to be placed on injured reserve with a ruptured Achilles sustained against the Kansas City Chiefs last week. With Nixon being waived, McClain reported Houston will "have two roster spots for linebackers before they play at Indianapolis on November 1."
"I can't sit there and wait on something [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] else to happen," Texans' Head Coach Gary Kubiak said. "I'm approaching it with, 'Do we move (strong-side linebacker) Zac (Diles) (into the middle) or not move Zac? How do we fix it with (weak-side linebacker) Xavier (Adibi) and (linebacker Darryl) Sharpton and (linebacker Kevin) Bentley? That's all I'm looking at right now."
McClain repored that Adibi,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Sharpton and Bentley are expected to be healthy in time for Indianapolis.
He also reported that if all linebackers are healthy, Bentley likely will replace [link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
