Colts hope to wait eight weeks on Conner,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
The Colts are hopeful they’ll be able to keep [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] on the roster and he can make a late-season return and have an impact.
He had biceps surgery after the opener and the team believes he could resurface after eight or 10 weeks.
I chatted with Bill Polian Wednesday and he said the team will have a better sense about [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] soon, as he’s got a key checkup or benchmark in his rehab upcoming.
Now the Colts will attempt a similar wait with rookie linebacker Kavell Conner, who’s been playing for the injured Clint Session (hamstring). Conner suffered a fractured foot in Denver and had surgery. Polian said he’s out for about eight weeks.
Ideally, the team will have the flexibility to wait on both [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] and Conner and get a contribution from each late in the season and into the playoffs.
But other injuries combined with certain game-day personnel demands could force the Colts to look to IR for one or both players.
“Certainly that could happen [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] down the road if you’re really up against an untenable situation,” Polian said. “You hope you don’t get to that. Kavell’s situation is pretty cut and dried. We’ll know more about Bob here in the not too distant [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] future. ... My hope is we can leave them there and get them back if that’s possible.”
More from Polian on a variety of topics coming Thursday.
