You Will Need: ,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]A well fitting/tight topA tape measure or rulerSharp scissorsPermanent marker/TextaHow to Make a Halter Top From an Old Long Sleeved TopSelect the old long sleeved top for revamping ensuring that is tight fitting. If it fits well it will stay up easily. An old T-shirt can also be used.Cut off sleeves along the seam line.Lay top on a flat surface and with a permanent marker or Texta; mark out where to cut ensuring both sides are even. Measurements will be individual depending on body size but straps should be approximately 2-2/5 inches for best results.Begin cutting away the front and side sections of the top leaving the straps and ensuring that straps will be long enough to be tied around the neck of the wearer.Begin cutting away the back. How low the back of the halter top goes is a personal choice but the easiest way is to cut the back along the bottom seam of where the sleeves once were. That way the back of the halter top should cover the back of the bra when worn.To cut the back, lay the top flat and make a 2-inch cut on one side of the back where the bottom sleeve seam is. Next flip the top around and begin to cut along the back starting at the bottom sleeve seam on the opposite side. This will give a visual line and help for straight cutting of the back.Shorten and even up the straps,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], making sure they are long enough to tie.Trim any uneven edges.

Clothing is just one of many things women purchase. In the age of recycling, revamping old clothes is a cost effective and fun exercise. It is advisable that for a first effort, start with an item of clothing that holds no sentimental value or one of the daggy tops that aren’t worn in public (see images),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so that if the first attempt is unsuccessful it can be thrown out at no great loss. It may take a bit of practice,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], however this is a relatively easy way to revamp an old item of clothing.
This is a great way to get new life from an old top that doesn’t get worn anymore but is still in good condition. And it doesn’t cost a cent! Alternatively a singlet can be made by following the same basic steps but instead of cutting away the back section, simply cut around the straps. If a long sleeved top with tight fitting sleeves has been used, the sleeve can also be worn as arm warmers with a T-shirt.
