Aida opera is one of the most popular and classic opera stories that are performed today. Opera lovers and even those who do not like opera at all usually get much out of the Aida opera, and for good reason. A rich history of success, wonderful characters with harmonic voices, and an engaging plot are all great components to the Aida opera. Aida is going to be performed at the Masada, Israel in 2011, and learning as much as you can about the features of the opera as well as the specifics of the 2011 performance will help you be prepared and interested when the time comes for you to see and hear this classic.
History
Aida was originally conducted by Guiseppe Verdi and was first performed in Cairo, Egypt in 1871. It was written into French by Camille de Locle and into Italian by Antonio Ghislanzoni. The plot was written by Mariette Bey [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and is one of the best plots of classic opera. It has been performed in London, Paris, New York, Milan, and Caruso, all to raving reviews in each of those major world cities. Its next historical performance setting will be at Masada in Israel.
Characters
There are a few main characters of whom it is important to know when talking about the great grand opera classic Aida. First there is, of course, Aida, an Ethiopian slave and captive, who is usually played by a soprano, and then two bass voices, the King of Egypt Ramphis and the High Priest. One baritone voice is Amonasro, King of Ethiopia and Aidas father, and one contralto, Amneris, who is the daughter of the King of Egypt. There are also two tenors, Rhadames, the Captain of the Guard and the Messenger. The rest of the characters are smaller roles and will have varied voices to add to the harmony of the opera. They include soldiers, Egyptians, Ethiopian slaves, prisoners and priests. The casting of the important and non-important characters of the Aida opera is a huge deal when planning a performance.
Plot
The general plot of the Aida opera is actually quite simple though the more complicated events would seem to say not. If it were a Shakespearean play it would be called a tragedy. Aida, an Ethiopian slave is secretly and desperately in a relationship with Rhadames, an Egyptian general. Through a series of bad events, Rhadames is punished to death via live entombment. Heartbroken and desperate, Aida works it out to be in the tomb with him so that they might die together and be together forever more.
Masada
The Aida opera is next playing in the beautiful and historical Masada of Israel [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a sacred and significant place in Jewish culture. June second [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], fourth and fifth of 2011 marks the date of this great experience. The conductor of the Aida opera for 2011 will be Daniel Oren, and the staff includes a number of talented people, including Charles Roubaud as director and Emmanuelle Farre as set designer.
