Your comments: Devils midseason report card
The Devils passed the halfway mark of the season as the NHL's worst team, and The Star-Ledger's Rich Chere put together a midseason report card.
The results? Well, it's probably not a surprise to see the Devils have more questions than answers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and plenty more dark moments than bright spots.
Much of the chatter among NJ.com commenters was about [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]'s offseason contract and whether the re-signing of him is the reason for the Devils' terrible year.
NJ.com user 3sc1cs writes:
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] was a major coup for the team.
ANY TEAM in the NHL would have made that deal. His cap hit is $6-$6.5 million. Thats not a lot.
There are a ton of players of lesser talent and upside than [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] that make much more than that. (Scott) Gomez makes more than that. Which would you rather have?
The problem with this team is the defensive corps.
NJ.com user metnaveman responds by saying:
If there's no other GM in the league that wouldn't have signed Kovy for the contract we gave him, then why didn't any other GM in the league offer him the contract we offered him? Come to think of it, why didn't any other GM in the league (other than L.A.) offer him ANY contract?
Is the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] contract the reason for the Devils' failures? Join the discussion by going to the comments section of this Star-Ledger story.
