Brazilian footballer, Kaká, became almost a forgotten star player in the hall of the World Cup in South Africa, as the media has focus their attention on Argentinean Lionel Messi, English Wayne Rooney and Spaniards David Villa and Fernando Torres. However, from the shadows and without the pressure of expectations, there is every reason to believe that the former FIFA Footballer of the Year will finally shine on the biggest stage of the World Cup.
Kaká suffered some injuries during his disappointing debut season with Real Madrid, but this could play easily on his favor. After participating in just 33 games with his club, it is likely that Kaká will be in better shape than many of his rivals, who in some cases have played over 50 games this season.
To prove that he is in good shape,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Kaká scored his first goal of the year with the team when Brazil crashed Tanzania 5-1 this past Monday, in its final preparation match before the tournament in South Africa, which starts on June 12th. During the friendly game, Kaká, with his speed and good control of the ball was a constant nightmare for the defenders of Tanzania. His goal was the great proof of his comeback.
His coach Dunga, his teammates and doctors are relieved that Kaká is playing without pain. He is getting his confidence back in the field and during the friendly game against Tanzania he was an important aspect for the team.
At the end of the match, Kaká stated he was happy with his performance but still knows he is not yet at his best. Nevertheless, he knows he still have some days to work on certain things and hopes to improve at every game in South Africa.
"I felt fine. I played better in this match. I just need to loosen up a little more, but we have a week until the first match and I will be ready. There are still some minor things to adjust. But it's not about being concerned, it's more about being anxious," expressed the super star Kaká.
On the other hand, Brazilian coach, Dunga,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], alleged that Kaká is getting better,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but they have been trying to slow him down a bit because he wants to practice three times a day. The 28 years-old is very anxious for this tournament.
“He's improving little by little. We have to put the brakes on him because sometimes he wants to train morning, noon and night,” Dunga said.
Kaká will play his third World Cup in South Africa. During Corea-Japan 2002, Kaká was only an alternate. Four years ago in Germany, he failed along with a group of Brazilian stars and later he didn’t play in the quarterfinals against France due to injury. During this match, Brazil got eliminated after a 1-0 defeat.
With Brazil now playing a more paused game, taking chances with their counter-attacks, Kaká may be the only reminder of the showy and creative style game,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which made Brazil one of the favorite teams for many soccer followers.
Now, there is only one week left for Kaká and Brazil to make their debut in this 2010 World Cup. They are part of Group G along with Portugal, Ivory Coast and North Korea. Their first meeting will be against North Korea on June 15th.
